For a logistics or manufacturing business, trucks are core operating assets — and their value has to be supported by an independent appraisal whenever they are pledged as loan collateral, transferred under a lease, contributed to charter capital or restated in the accounts. The Kanzas company performs independent valuation of commercial trucks, trailers and entire vehicle fleets located in Ukraine, for both Ukrainian and international clients.
When international clients need a truck or fleet valuation
Foreign lenders, lessors and investors with exposure to Ukrainian transport assets typically commission a commercial vehicle appraisal for:
- collateral and leasing — determining the market value of trucks pledged to banks or leasing companies operating in Ukraine;
- financial reporting — revaluation of vehicles as fixed assets to fair value under IFRS;
- transactions and due diligence — acquisition or disposal of a Ukrainian transport operator, where the fleet forms a significant part of enterprise value;
- contribution to charter capital — supporting the value of vehicles contributed as an in-kind investment;
- damages and disputes — quantifying loss of vehicles, including war-related damage claims and litigation support.
We appraise individual units — tractor units (semi trucks) with semi-trailers, flatbed and box trucks, dump trucks, refrigerated trucks, tankers and special-purpose chassis — as well as complete fleets as a single engagement.
Valuation approaches for commercial vehicles
Trucks are mass-produced assets with an active secondary market, so the market (sales comparison) approach is normally the primary one: value is derived from comparable transactions and offers, adjusted for make and model, year, mileage, engine type and power, configuration and technical condition. The cost approach is applied where repair or reinstatement cost must be reflected — for example, for damaged vehicles in insurance or damages engagements. The methodology follows Ukrainian valuation standards and is consistent with the International Valuation Standards (IVS), which makes the reports usable by foreign banks, auditors and courts.
Inspection arrangements
Under Ukrainian valuation law, a physical inspection and identification of the vehicle is a mandatory stage of the appraisal: the valuer verifies the VIN and unit numbers, actual configuration, mileage and technical condition, including any accident history — all of which directly affect value. For international clients we arrange inspections at the vehicles' location in Ukraine and coordinate access with the local operator or custodian, so the client's involvement can remain fully remote.
For the engagement we will need the registration and technical documents, make and model, year of manufacture and commissioning date, mileage, key technical specifications and available service or repair records.
Our track record includes appraising corporate vehicle fleets as part of fixed asset revaluations and preparing collateral valuations for bank lending and leasing — engagements where the fleet is valued as a single body of work rather than a set of unrelated vehicles.
Questions and answers
How much does a commercial truck appraisal cost? We quote a fixed fee and timeline after receiving the list of vehicles with their key specifications and the purpose of the valuation. The scope, price and schedule are agreed before the engagement letter is signed.
Can you value an entire fleet across several locations in Ukraine? Yes. Fleet valuations are a regular part of our practice, most often within fixed asset revaluations or collateral packages; inspections are scheduled across the depots where the vehicles are based.
Will the report be accepted by a foreign bank or auditor? The valuation is performed under Ukrainian statutory standards consistent with IVS, and the report can be prepared in English with the assumptions and methodology set out for an international user.
